Ardent Roleplay is an augmented reality (AR) app for tabletop roleplaying games allowing players to scan special cards with their phones to bring worlds, characters and props to life. Game Masters can individualise information to their players' devices, adding greater intrigue and suspense to their campaigns. They can even design their own AR encounters using the Creation Kit app!

I joined the Brisbane-based Ardacious team as a remote Quality Assurance Tester in 2019, working as part of a team of three to help test both the mobile app and Creation Kit to ensure they were both the best experiences they could be. Although it was not strictly a design role, it allowed me to develop strong detail-orientated skills and remote work experience that I've carried forward in every project I've worked on since.

Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Testing - I routinely performed usability and regression testing on the mobile app, as well as the Creation Kit later on in my time. This involved liaising with the QA Lead and the rest of the team via Slack and Discord to troubleshoot any major issues we ran into.

Coordinating Testing Sessions - I organised the remote testing sessions alongside my other Melbourne-based testers, ensuring we had all of the builds and devices we needed to do our work no matter where we were located and whether or not we were testing together or over the Internet.

Documentation of Bugs - I documented various bugs and issues through Google Sheets and Trello, writing up relevant descriptions alongside necessary imagery and video. I also escalated any major or critical bugs to the Brisbane team, facilitating meetings as needed to demonstrate and replicate our findings.
