The Living Room is an action/strategy game about a Ghost living in its beloved mansion with its dog and precious Mementos from its past life. However, Movers have come to take the Ghost's Mementos. This threatens its attachment to its home, measured in Feels. Outlast all five waves of the Movers by scaring them away to protect your Mementos and preserve your Feels!

Leading the design and co-ordinating the team

Taking into account the smaller team size, I worked to establish an achievable vision in the limited time we had. I emphasised simplicity in mechanics and controls to improve its accessibility, allowing it to be playable using the Xbox Adaptive Controller for the "Keep It Simple" diversifier.

I also took on Producer responsibilities and managed the tasks of the team. This involved setting various milestones and reassessing the scope on a regular basis over the weekend.

Animation-Based UI

I also designed the assets used for the menus and UI. A goal of mine was to avoid text where possible to avoid distracting the player. Instead, I made the UI animations dynamic and worked alongside the sound designer to use both to communicate the player's state within the game. I also implemented a sneaky cameo of my dog Rosie as the signifier of whenever a new wave was about to begin.
